Gods of Rome Guide

Gods of Rome is a fighting game that has fighters ranging from Zeus to Hades with a sprinkling of minotaurs, cyclops and Julius Caesers. You tap the right side of the screen to throw a string of light punches, you swipe right for a medium attack that charges and you can hold the screen to charge a strong attack that can break defences. Defence consists of holding the left of the screen to block and swiping left to dash away from your opponent. As this is a free-to-play game, the hook here is that your fighters need to be upgraded using orbs. Orbs are dished out by playing the lengthy and ever-expanding story mode, by taking part in special event fights or by forking over some cold, hard cash. This mode is consists of 3 Act and each with four chapters. And one chapter consists of 6 quests. And each quest comprises a different number of fights. So in 1 act there are 24 quests. So far I unlocked only 1 act and still playing it and love to fight. These are special events which are like story mode but with different reward/loot. Currently, the reward is unique nectar. As you progress on this no retreat journey, you will be rewarded with alot lof items that contains upgrade, teams and health healers. One major thing you must note here is that you need build your team as this will have a major impact as you gradually progresses down the tousle. There is extra rewards for labour and that is not exempted here. As you fight as a fun player or battle with the platform mode, you will be rewarded greatly. In this path to survival and quest to restore the world, you need Gems and Golds to upgrade your fighters and finally, conservation of energy is important as you need it for each Battle.

Begin your quest to defeat the dark demon Tenebrous, an ancient evil who has unearthed the artifact known as the Chaos Vessel. As he threatens to enslave the world’s greatest warriors with its power, only the mighty summoners known as "The Ascenders" can rise up against his new regime! Join the high ranks of THE ASCENDERS; the supreme summoners of ancient legend! As an Ascender, you can summon, upgrade and manage gods, monsters, heroes and other mythical warriors in the fight against a dark force that threatens to enslave them all! Zeus, Hades, Vulcan, Atlas, Spartacus, Medusa and many more form the most powerful gathering of fighters the world has ever seen! Undertake your journey through the most incredible locations of the ancient world – Mount Olympus, the ruins of Pompeii, the Coliseum, and many more! Discover the unique Bonds shared by your fighters to unlock powerful bonuses. The combat in Gods of Rome is very rigid. There is no flow to it. The option to block exists, but if you’re fighting up close (which you will be because this is a melee-focused game) there is so little time to react and try to block that I found I was more successful by just spamming abilities and hoping that the opponent took a break so that my attacks would catch. Gods of Rome even encourages you to spam your punches.

Gods of Rome was made by Gameloft and like its other apps known for their rich graphics like Dungeon Hunter and Despicable Me, this one didn’t disappoint. From the time that it tells you the backstory to the moment that you play on the different levels and worlds, your eyes would feast with the gorgeous images. Considering that this was designed to be played on mobile, it’s really one of the top apps when it comes to the graphic scene. The background settings vary so you wouldn’t feel easily bored. There are also several characters to choose from, especially with the update that has been released. These characters look fantastic and they also have different looks that make the game more exciting. Gods of Rome leaves much to be desired. It’s a good idea crammed into a cookie-cutter mobile game mold that is just too small for it to work well. Everything it offers has been done before, and done better, in other mobile fighting games.

As long as you have enough memory on your device and you have good Internet connectivity, you wouldn’t have problems with it. However, those who have low system resources and have problems with their connectivity may also experience issues with the game. It’s nice to see how the characters move, especially when fighting, as if they were real. The special effects are also great. This free to play game from Gameloft is feature rich. As mentioned, there are various levels, worlds and characters to unlock. There are also different game modes including the story mode, PVP and special events. However, these worlds, modes and characters can only be unlocked when you reach certain levels in the game. This makes it something that you could see playing for an extended period since there’s so much to unlock and explore. However, it required energy to keep you playing and when you run out, you need to wait for some time before you could play again, which could slow down the progress, unless you’re willing to make an in-app purchase. The combat in Gods of Rome is very rigid. There is no flow to it. The option to block exists, but if you’re fighting up close there is so little time to react and try to block that I found I was more successful by just spamming abilities and hoping that the opponent took a break so that my attacks would catch. Gods of Rome even encourages you to spam your punches, rewarding players with powerful abilities that can take large chunks out of the opponent’s HP bar.

Either that or the plot has a pretty sharp twist. Some of the main characters include Zeus, Spartacus and Atlas. These heroes fight against an ancient evil force that threatens to enslave their souls. Characters look fantastic although everyone is not from Rome as the name implies but all characters are looking gorgeous. Currently, there is 1 star up to 4-star characters available with exclusive characters like ‘Talos’. And each character has a bio. They have skills which unlocked at different levels. And there’s also a secret power which opened when getting the same fighter. Also, there are special moves for each character called ‘ULTRAS’ which unlocked when reaching different levels. You can upgrade characters with items as well. But there’s no character customization as of now. Also, there are class advantages which are cool for game balance and group bonus for different characters when fighting together called ‘bonds.' That’s about as much as we know about the story, though. The actual gameplay runs very much in the same vein as Mortal Kombat X and WWE Immortals. Players slash and tap to and from their opponent to initiate offensive and defensive abilities. The game revolves around the story that players are an “Ascendant” who must utilize the souls of the gods to restore order throughout the world. The narrative serves as a way to string together seemingly random battles with other deities from other pantheons, but is hardly memorable and the same can be said of the gameplay.
